It can also be the perfect way to differentiate your products and services and create unique value with what you are offering. Over the years I have attended countless events and been on numerous courses for business and marketing. The one phrase that I always remember from all the courses is…

 

Make Your Niche an Inch Wide and a Mile Deep…

 

Your niche should be specific and at the same time there should be a large market for your products and services. The question is… How does storytelling play a part in your niche?  Your personal business story allows people to relate to your product and brand whilst at the same time will allow you to differentiate from your competitors. Your story is personal to you and will allow you to naturally attract clients to your business as people will connect with you based on your background, experience, challenges and mission.  Below is an example of a business story niche:

 

The Diabetic Personal Trainer – Helping diabetics have a fit and healthy life whilst controlling their blood sugar.

Many year’s ago now I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, after being active and training for many years. After being diagnosed, I found it increasingly difficult to control my blood sugar levels,  it became a real shock to the system and had a knock on effect to my health.  As time passed, I learned how to control my blood sugar whilst having the fitness that I wanted. It is now my goal and mission to help others suffering from diabetes live a healthy and active lifestyle.

 

This is an example of how you can use storytelling to craft your own niche. Notice how the niche is also an inch wide and a mile deep. When you niche your business and incorporate your empowering business story, you can quickly get known as the go to person and become an expert in your industry.
